Even though New Hampshire is trying to scrap its vehicle inspection program, cars still have to meet some basic safety requirements — whether or not they get an annual check up. State police say they’re going to be on the lookout to make sure that cars comply with safety rules on lights, mirrors, tires, brakes and more. All of those requirements remain unchanged, even as the inspection program is in limbo. So what, exactly, should drivers keep an eye on to make sure their vehicle is road ready?
