We caught it in SDO's 211Å channel and GOES-18 X-ray data this evening, and WOW what an eruption 🤩But here's where it gets really interesting 🧐 We don't have coronagraph imagery of the resulting CME yet, BUT — the EUV dimming and radio data are telling us plenty. When you see dimming in extreme ultraviolet after a big flare, that's material leaving the Sun. Gone

These two sunspot groups (4479 top, 4478 bottom) are large, complex, and actively flaring. 4479 in particular continues to grow, has already exploded with a 1.1 x-flare, and is now non-stop flaring with low-grade m-class activity. Highly likely a big flare or multiple today...
