バイオロジー on Instagram: "サイクロピア（Cyclopia）は、医学的に確認されている極めてまれな先天性疾患です。胎児の脳が発達する過程で左右の半球に分かれず、眼が一つに融合してしまうことが特徴とされています。多くの場合、生命の維持は困難です。 簡単にまとめると、以下のようになります。 サイクロピアとは、 赤ちゃんが片方の目、もしくは一つの眼窩（目のくぼみ）だけを持って生まれてくる疾患です。 脳の前方部分である前脳が二つに分離しないことで発生し、これはホロプロセンファリー（全前脳胞症）の中でも最も重篤な型とされています。 鼻が欠如していたり位置が異常であったりするほか、耳や顔の形態にも奇形を伴うことがあります。 妊娠約18〜28日頃の脳の分化過程で生じ、遺伝的異常（SHH遺伝子やPAX6遺伝子の変異）や、アルコール・薬物・環境要因などの有害物質への曝露が原因として知られています。 現在のところ治療法はなく、多くは出生直後に生存が困難です。発生頻度は極めて低く、主に超音波検査や胎児MRIによって診断されます。"
