They may look like a pile of insect parts—but bone collector caterpillars are actually cleverly camouflaged critters. These rare carnivorous caterpillars are a newly described species in Hawaiʻi. Whatever they don’t eat they use to decorate silk cases that cover their bodies, which entomologists believe help them hide from spiders.
