In 2009, Folgers Coffee released a heartwarming holiday commercial titled Coming Home, a modern remake of their beloved 1985 ad Peter Comes Home for Christmas. There’s something about this Folgers commercial that still hits the soul. Not because of the coffee — but because of that moment only families with military loved ones truly understand… The quiet of the morning. The front door opening. And the instant your child, brother, or loved one walks back into the house like no time has passed. The hug between the two brothers in this commercial? That scene is what made people tear up then and now. So many families lived that moment in real life — waiting

In 2009, Folgers released a holiday commercial about a brother returning home from overseas to surprise his family. But the flirty chemistry between him and his sister in the ad was… unexpected. Viewers immediately took to the internet, dubbing it “Folgercest” and turning the ad into an infamous piece of commercial history. Over a decade later, it’s still remembered — and parodied — for all the wrong reasons. 🎬 Do you remember seeing this ad when it first aired? | Scene Sharks

IT ALL MAKES SENSE TO ME NOW: All those tear-jerking Folgers coffee commercials where adult kids come home for the holidays. 🥹 Well, here we are. Everything is indeed right with world when #thesimonsboys all return home for Christmas. I know that even THIS is a season, so I’m soaking it up, counting my blessings…and remembering it’s never too late to cultivate the HOME we all want to return to. 🫶🏼#ruthchousimons #mysixsons #thesimonsboys #motherhoodissanctifying #thesimonseight | Ruth Chou Si

But what should’ve been a wholesome, tear-jerking ad became a viral punchline — and not in the way Folgers intended. Here's why: Tone Over Script The actors’ delivery, eye contact, a
