The Bootleg fire in southern Oregon, the nation’s largest, has grown to nearly 400,000 (625 square miles) acres as of Wednesday morning, officials said. The fire is burning through high desert forest of mixed conifer trees and shrubby grasslands. Doug Grafe, chief of fire protection for the Oregon Department of Forestry, said the fire could burn through another 100,000 acres before it’s completely contained, putting it on par with the largest fires in the state’s modern history.” Read more here:
