Every year during Black History Month we hear the names and stories of some of our area's great local heroes – boxer Davey Moore, jazz legend Johnny Lytle, baseball great Brooks Lawrence, Mayor Robert Henry, and others. They are great stories, and some of these names are known across the country – we should be proud of those that had a national impact.
