Another thing we are excited to be adding to the bus! Do you know how many times we wished we had kayaks before?! A LOT! These are going to fold up and slide into our garage space like a dream. They’re actually not called orgami kayaks 🤣 they are @tucktec and the company is based in South Carolina (we walked through there on our first and second walk across America), we thought that was pretty neat! They even hooked us up with a discount code so if you also want to be rocking a foldable kayak l

Our first ever Skooliepalooza is in the books! We shared meals with amazing people, danced until the sun went down on top of a bus, and saw what's its like when you bring a bunch of Nomads together for one big gathering! There was some crazy stuff that went down, but thankfully we've learned that if you surround yourself with good people and bring good energy then it typically comes back to you 🫶 Thank you to all the great people that made our first ever Skooliepalooza so enjoyable ❤️ Oh, and t

Lately our days don’t have much variation to them. We’ve been working hard to get the bus finished and on Thursday we finally get to check for leaks and then start building up the inside! Watch until the end for Nemos favorite part of the day, she always comes out of the bedroom just for it 🤣❤️🐾 #dayinthelife #skooliebuild #adventurecouple #mundane #everydaylife #workfromhome | Grace & Matt Grooms | Travel & Adventure

If you watch our stories we told you this month was going to be a doozy hahaha We were definitely shocked when we read the price after we added it all up but also we’ve been able to go and visit sooo many people that we haven’t seen in the last 2 years and we made a bunch of new friends at @_northwestnomads so all the extras were definitely worth it. As my (graces) dad always says, you can always make more money!! That being said, let’s all report back at the end of this month for a much lower n

We do have a toilet in our bus but we don't have a shower. That doesn't mean we can't shower though! We have this awesome shower in a bag and it got sooo warm. It's perfect for an outdoor shower and lil pamper sesh. We also shower at anytime fitness and campgrounds when we stay at them! We stay *pretty* clean 😉 #optoutside #campinggear #camping #camp #fulltimetravel #skoolie #buslife | Grace & Matt Grooms | Travel & Adventure

As much as we love our bus, 11mpg and nearly 30 hours of driving over 9 days isn’t exactly ideal 😀 We were going to get a rental car, but Matt’s mom let us borrow her @mazdausa so we are living in luxury this week and doing a mix of Airbnb/camping. We love all kinds of road trip styles and are super excited for this little Northwest road trip to see our friends and family 🙏🏼 First up: visiting Grace’s brother and sister in law on the Oregon coast! Bus tear down is nearly complete. We knew we were going to redo our bus, we just didn’t know it would be this soon. With leaks and moisture in our bus we knew there was mold and the only way to make sure it’s gone is to tear it all down and start again. There are a lot of things we learned our first go around, and getting TimmyII down to a base layer is allowing us to see just how great and improved this one will be! If you were redoing a bus, what’s one thing you would never forget to put in??

🚨 MAJOR 🚌 UPGRADE 🚨 When we lived in our bus before there were three things we always wished we had 1. Fan to vent out the bus 2. Kayaks 3. An awning!!!!! (A big thank you to @thule for making that happen!!!!) The time has come and we were so happy to install this bad boy. It’s been sitting in the short term rental for like 2 months 🤭😬 (every time Foxi would jump over it, it was like she was clearing a boulder) It was actually harder to install than we thought it would be, but that’s probab

We had dreaded this for so long on our second walk across America because everyone told us we were basically going to 💀 It actually ended up having a great shoulder, going early in the morning was ideal because we didn’t have a bunch of traffic and since we’d walked from the top of the keys down a lot of people already were looking out for us! Also, unbeknownst to a lot of people that part of the road IS apart of the Florida trail ! Would we do it again? No need lol If we decide to do a third w

Our bus is WAY better than it was our first go around but there are still some things we’d like to change. All of it is livable, but the adjustments would make it just that much nicer. We are going to need to make some major upgrades/changes here sooner than later 👀 Is there anything else you’d change about our bus from what you see? We won’t be offended ;) #busbuild #skoolie #diymistakes #fulltimetravel #lifeontheroad #skoolieconversion #busconversion | Grace & Matt Grooms | Travel & Adventure

You can travel without filling every single moment of every day doing things that cost money! We like to keep it simple, do free things, cook at home and enjoy just being in the new places. You can get a good feeling for a place without spending all your money there 😬 A lot of people worry about how you’re making money, but a better question is how do you spend your money? You’d be surprised at how fast certain purchases or habits add up! #budgettravel #fulltimetravel #skoolie #lifeontheroad #t

We almost have everything out of our apartment and we have SOOOOO much storage !!!!!!!!! We aren’t even going to be able to fill it!!!! So I’m definitely buying the @keltyusa couch chair now 🤣🤣 We are trying to stay calm cool and collected but we are ITCHING to be back out at our favorite campsites with this new upgraded rig!!! After two weeks of boondocking and only one shower nothing is better than getting to stay at a HOTEL! King bed, shower, free breakfast, gym, free parking, flat screen tv - the list goes on! She’s definitely not entering any beauty pageants soon 🤣 While I love when she looks all cute and done up nice, we’ve really been trying to do it ourselves lately to save money. What do you think, are we getting better? Thank goodness Nemo doesn’t need her hair cut 😅 although I think foxi’s size makes it 10x harder and she’s way stronger than she looks #yorkie #yorkielife #budget #teacupyorkie #groomer | Grace & Matt Grooms | Travel & Adventure

We destroyed our last generator 🙃 Sometimes reading the directions isn't my strongest quality 😅 Thankfully we haven't needed to use our air conditioner, but summer is right around the corner and we couldn't be more excited to fire this bad boy up for the first time! We had to run it for five hours for the first time so we waited so long but it was actually sooooo quiet we were very impressed. We are curious what kind of backup power you have in your home or vehicle in case of an emergency?? #c

We haven’t really done a section update because we’ve just been going crazy in all directions 🤣 If you haven’t heard, we have to be out of our short term lease by June 27th! So we are down to the final days! We were feeling a little bit nervous going into this next section because we want the inside to look so nice. As you can tell, we are very pleasantly surprised and excited to keep going. Late nights at the warehouse are getting more and more fun as we see our home come together. We lived in

"ok fine I'll camp" - real message we received after sharing stories of this campground We usually would say, just find a free spot to camp - but this campground is AMAZING! The amenities are so nice, the place is worth it for the showers alone and the owners are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet! We'd been looking forward to this stay for a couple of months but honestly it's blown away our expectations. It truly feels like an oasis and it's SO close to town and lots of great attractio

We were just sitting in our hotel room when Matt started going “whattttt” so I made him read out loud. We weren’t sure if @darc_meloach message about a 70ft yacht was going to be too good to be true but we were excited to take him up on the opportunity to see NYC from the water. Not only was it WAY cooler than we imagined, we made a new friend too!! We aren’t professional DIY’ers (?) by any stretch - but we do love doing it ourselves and learning as we go! Here’s what we did to remove and reinstall our windows in hopes of less leaking and even less rattling while we drive! We only reinstalled 6 windows because we are deleting the back 4 windows by where our bed will be! Stealth camping is a lot more fun when you’re not in a busy area. Busy area = higher chances of getting caught Things we always do when stealth camping: 1. Avoid spots that say no trespassing 2. Leave no trace 3. Stay quiet and stay hidden 4. Check our surroundings to see what’s nearby This ended up being an awesome spot and it wasn’t initially one we had our eyes on. We just stopped to get shade for a second and BAM! #eastcoastgreenway #walkacrossamerica #stealthcamping #thruhike #urbancamping
