China is dispatching a diplomat to Cambodia and Thailand as a new bout of violence between the two Southeast Asian nations threatens to derail a ceasefire brokered by President Donald Trump.
President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he will try again to stop fighting between Thailand and Cambodia after a ceasefire he helped broker in July collapsed this week. Trump, at a rally in Pennsylvania, listed the wars he said he has halted, when he mentioned the fighting between the Southeast Asian neighbors, which broke out again on Monday.
Thailand launched air strikes against Cambodia on Monday as a new wave of fighting erupted between the southeast Asian neighbors, marking the potential collapse of a peace plan presided over by US President Donald Trump just two months ago.
China has engaged with both sides since the start of the violence, but has kept a much lower profile than the U.S.
