Sunrise on the Reaping hit bookshelves in March 2025, but fans won't have to wait long to see the latest Hunger Games prequel get the movie treatment. Lionsgate ordered the movie The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping at the same time author Suzanne Collins announced the book about Haymitch Abernathy was on the way.

Fans of The Hunger Games will be excited to learn that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are stepping back into the world of Panem as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark for the upcoming prequel film .

The end of the teaser trailer includes the voice of Woody Harrelson -- who played Haymitch in the original "Hunger Games" films -- saying, "I think these games are gonna be different." Also starring in the upcoming film are Whitney Peak, McKenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Glenn Close and Kieran Culkin.
