Jets player shares recovery update after being shot in New York: ‘Starting to breathe on my own’
New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd said he is "starting to breathe on my own now" days after he was shot in Manhattan early Sunday morning.
Boyd was shot in the abdomen in Midtown Manhattan and rushed to the hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
In March, Boyd, a defensive cornerback and specialty teams player, signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract to play for the Jets, according to the team. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during team scrimmage in August and hasn't played since.
Boyd, 29, shared a photo of himself in the hospital on his Instagram story Wednesday, writing: "I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now."
That does not bode well for a depleted Jets defense. Unless the Ravens suffer a letdown or the Jets play out of their minds, this one looks very likely to be a loss for the Jets, and probably not a close one.
