Oscar-winning producer Jon Landau, a longtime collaborator of writer-director James Cameron, died on July 5 of cancer at age 63. Fire and Ash (in theaters Dec. 19), the third of five planned Avatar installments, was Landau’s final credited project as a producer; the film’s credits include an "in loving memory” tribute to him with a headshot.

Avatar: Fire and Ash reviews are out on social media. It is the sequel to James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Avatar (2009).

As per early trade estimates, Avatar 3 will look to do marginally better than the figures of the original film but will fall way behind the sequel's overwhelming debut weekend collection.
