In his final speech at the Federal Reserve’s summer retreat, Chairman Jerome Powell said the changing economic landscape likely will bring lower interest rates.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Friday the central bank faces “significant uncertainty” as it attempts to navigate the impact of President Trump’s policies, suggesting the bank could cut rates as the job market weakens.

Bookending a three-day conference, “The stability of the unemployment rate and other labor market measures allows us to proceed carefully as we consider changes to our policy stance,” Powell told attendees.
