Colbert, the CBS late night host, tore into Trump’s speech during his Tuesday show and criticized the address for being “filled with useful lies, and applauded by useless idiots.” At one point, he took aim at Democrats during the speech for silently holding up placards that read “false” and “lies.”

Many liberal members of Congress and activists believe they must loudly channel the growing outrage among Democrats over Trump’s drastic actions.

Several Democratic women in Congress wore pink for President Trump’s first address to Congress in a display of defiance. For some observers, the stylistic protest did not have the desired effect.
