Along with the blockade, Trump said he has formally designated Venezuela's Maduro and his government allies a foreign terrorist organization.
It comes a week after the US seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela and as the Trump administration increases pressure on the country's government.
President Donald Trump said he was ordering a blockade of sanctioned oil tankers going into and leaving Venezuela, ratcheting up pressure on Caracas amid a US military buildup in the region and the threat of land strikes.
President Trump has not clearly called for regime change in Venezuela as Chief of Staff Susie Wiles says he's in an anti-war mood this term.
