Spotify faced a widespread outage, with over 20,000 users reporting issues on Downdetector, signalling a major disruption rather than a minor glitch. As the platform stayed down globally, social media filled with memes and jokes about users being left with nothing to listen to.

"We're aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!" officials wrote in the morning. "All clear! Thanks for your patience," it later said.
