Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency says Israeli jets have launched an airstrike over a southern Lebanese border village, while troops shelled other border towns and villages still under Israeli control.

The leader of the Lebanese militant Islamist movement Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, has said his group plans "high-level coordination" with the Lebanese army to implement a ceasefire deal with Israel that began on Wednesday.

A ceasefire has come into effect between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon after a deal was agreed to end 13 months of fighting. In October 2023, Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel in support of its ally Hamas in Gaza and Israel launched retaliatory air strikes in Lebanon.
