Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Friday that his country will drop some of its billions of dollars in retaliatory tariffs on US goods, though it will keep levies on autos, steel and aluminium.

Canada’s leader said he would follow the United States in dropping tariffs against American goods covered by the existing free trade agreement.

Carney said Canada will lift its tariffs on U.S. goods that comply with a North American free trade pact, but keep tariffs on U.S. steel, aluminum and autos.
