A federal judge ordered Apple to stop levying commissions on off-app purchases, opening the door for developers to earn more revenue.

The judge in Epic v. Apple has banned Apple from charging a commission on purchases made outside the App Store because of its ongoing anticompetitive behavior.

A federal judge found that Apple wilfully refused to comply with the ruling in a 2021 antitrust case and ordered it to loosen rules on the App Store. Fortnite and Unreal Engine maker Epic Games had sued to force the company to allow third-party payment systems and to limit fees and other restrictions;
