Bryce Harper showed up to Spring training with some new ink — a tattoo of the Phillie Phanatic decorating his right arm.

Philadelphia Phillies star first baseman Bryce Harper left Wednesday's spring training matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays with an injury. Harper was hit by a pitch on his tricep during the game, and he did not return. The Phillies weren't very concerned about the injury after the game, and an update on Harper was provided Thursday.

DH Kyle Schwarber is playing first base and shortstop Edmundo Sosa is playing left field for the Phillies on Thursday.

A major reason for that is because Bryce ... Harper has repeatedly talked about his love for Philadelphia, and that was evident once again by the new tattoo he got ahead of his arrival to spring ...

On Monday, Harper and Aaron Nola were absent from the Phillies’ first workout as a full squad. Manager Rob Thomson said that both players were out with food poisoning, which seemed relevant given what Harper had been putting in his coffee.
