Trump made the comments at the start of a White House meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer where Starmer was expected to make his case to the Republican president that American leadership would be critical to maintain the peace in Ukraine should the three-year war end.
On Thursday, Trump held a meeting with United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House during which they discussed Ukraine, tariffs and the relationship between the two countries. The pair later took questions during a joint news conference where they fielded additional questions on peace between Ukraine and Russia among other topics.
