Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo recaps Tuesday's 23-point win over Toledo, expressing disappointment in the Spartans' letdown in the second half.
One of Maryland men’s basketball’s best performances of the young season still was not enough to pull off the upset.
Michigan State has plenty to improve on after committing a season-high 17 turnovers at Penn State, which led to 23 points, and the team was also outscored off the bench and in the paint. The Spartans also finished just 6-for-18 on layups.
Yaxel Lendeborg scored a season-high 29 points and flirted with a triple-double as Michigan moved to 10-0 with a 101-83 win at Maryland.
Maryland men’s basketball star Pharrel Payne was helped off the court after suffering an apparent leg injury during Saturday night’s game.
However, Maryland has not had a turnover rate above 17% against any power-conference team. A team could turn Cadeau over and come close to matching Michigan inside, which appears to be the key to an upset. Maryland is not a good candidate to pull off that blueprint, however.
"The only way it works at this level is if you have guys who are really playing for each other, and right now we have that," coach Dusty May said.
