HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral) — H-E-B is warning the public about a prize giveaway scam circulating on social media. The Texas-based grocery store announced on Wednesday that the scam is promising winners a large gift card and an H-E-B shopping spree if they click a link or share it within Facebook Messenger.

There’s no question that Texas’ favorite grocer, H-E-B, is generous. During shutdowns and disasters, that red and white logo can easily be spotted with folks offering a helping hand. Though, they’re not giving out shopping sprees or massive gift cards on Facebook right now, so don’t be wary of any scammers creeping into your Messenger app.
