CLEVELAND, Ohio – Holiday travelers take heed. A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of northern Ohio beginning Thanksgiving morning and extending through Friday evening. The areas within the watch include Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties.
On Tuesday at 3:24 p.m. EST a winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 7 p.m. EST until Friday 7 p.m. EST for Chippewa and Mackinac counties.
As a storm was bearing down on the southern Plains, heavy snowfall was expected in the northern Plains and Great Lakes regions.
Winter weather alerts have been issued from the Dakotas to Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain will change over to snow from west to east across central and southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon and evening.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the Twin Cities metro as the first snow storm of the cold season approaches. The storm will bring rain and snow to the state and parts of the region Tuesday into early Wednesday.
Two storm systems are forecast to bring rain, snow and powerful winds to various parts of the U.S. this week, in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
On Tuesday at 2:05 p.m. EST a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 10 a.m. EST until Friday 7 a.m. EST for Cass, St. Joseph and Berrien counties.
