BEIJING, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Canada and China struck an initial trade deal on Friday that will slash tariffs on electric vehicles and canola, as both nations promised to tear down trade barriers while forging new strategic ties during Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit.
Several Canadian provinces, including Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, yanked US wine and spirits from government-run liquor stores after Trump launched a trade war last year — a move that has cost American booze makers millions of dollars in lost sales, Bloomberg News reported.
The North American deal is up for review this year, or the USMCA as it’s called in Washington. Trump is now calling it irrelevant, and doesn’t really care about re-negotiating the pact.
