Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber is preparing for his first outing with his new team on Friday. All that's transpired since his last one is a major elbow surgery, a long recovery process, and a trade away from the Cleveland Guardians, the only organization he'd ever known.

Bieber looked sharp immediately. He struck out Xavier Edwards with an 82.6 mph knuckle curve and fanned Jakob Marsee with an 89.3 mph changeup in the first inning.

Bieber struck out the side in the fourth inning, baffling hitters with late-breaking sliders and well-located fastballs. His final line: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K on 84 pitches. The only damage came off the bat of Javier Sanoja, who clubbed a solo home run in the second inning to left-center field.
