Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited a Sydney hospital where he met a man who disarmed an apparent gunman during Sunday's mass shooting in Bondi.
The funerals began as a country reeling from its deadliest hate-fueled massacre of modern times turned to searching questions, growing in volume since the attack, about how it was able to happen.
Australian officials said the shooting at a Jewish holiday celebration had been carried out by a father and son. More than three dozen people were hospitalized, including a surviving gunman.
Police said around 1,000 people had attended the Jewish celebration, which was held in a small park off the beach.
