Multiple counties in central North Carolina are under a flood watch Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Raleigh said.
However, locally higher amounts of rainfall, between 2 inches and more than 5 inches, could be possible anywhere in central North Carolina. Areas including and west of Alamance, Chatham, Lee, Moore, and Hoke counties have a slightly greater chance of receiving that higher precipitation.
Scattered storms are becoming severe Wednesday. Heavy rain threats may cause life-threatening flash flooding in the eastern Triad on Wednesday.

On Saturday at 12:50 p.m. the NWS Wilmington NC released a flood watch valid from 1 p.m. until Monday 8 p.m. The watch is for Inland Brunswick and Coastal Brunswick as well as Columbus County.
A flood watch is in effect for Forsyth and Guilford counties through 6 a.m. on Monday, according to an advisory from the National Weather Service issued on Sunday morning. Heavy rains are forecast as the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal impact much of the state today.
