According to Mike McMahon of CollegeHockeyInsider.com, Penn State's offer came in at about $700,000, compared to just $300K from Michigan State. It's surely not the only reason McKenna chose PSU. He's looking at lots more financial security in his future. But it couldn't have hurt.

It was a two-team race entering last week, and a new report from Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects suggests Michigan State is the loser in this tight recruiting battle. Robinson reported on Monday afternoon that McKenna is expected to commit to Big Ten rival Penn State over the Spartans.

Gavin McKenna -- the projected No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft -- is expected to commit to Penn State for the 2025-26 season, according to Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects. An official announcement from the program is expected Tuesday.
