Police in Massachusetts are seeking to charge three teenagers in connection with an attack on a transgender boy in August

Police are now seeking charges against three teens accused of beating up a transgender student in Gloucester, Massachusetts three months ago, but they won't be charged with a hate crime.

Three teens were charged with assault and battery in connection with a beating of a transgender boy in Massachusetts. Hate crime charges were not filed.

The teen, who was 16 when he was attacked at the Aug. 30 gathering in Gloucester, told Boston 25 News that he was beaten because he is transgender. Gloucester is located along the Massachusetts coast, about a 35-mile drive southwest from Boston.
