Prosecutors played audio recordings Monday as they tried to show jurors that a Wisconsin judge knew what was at stake earlier this year when she directed an immigrant to a private door while federal agents were in the courthouse to arrest the man.

Opening remarks by Assistant U.S. Attorney Keith Alexander kicked off an extraordinary trial for a public official. Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan is charged with obstruction and concealment for her actions this spring during President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

Hannah Dugan faces charges of concealing a person and obstruction after prosecutors allege she interfered when ICE agents attempted to arrest Eduardo Flores Ruiz at the Milwaukee courthouse in April.

Rallies led by labor, immigrant rights and faith groups are expected to start on Dec. 15, the first day of Dugan's high-profile trial.
