The City of Tukwila is encouraging people to be ready to leave on short notice due to possible flash flooding.

Kent Mayor Dana Ralph says a National Weather Service flash flood warning issued during the Desimone levee breach sowed panic, clogged roads and slowed repair efforts, arguing the alert overstated the immediate risk.

A levee has failed on the Green River, and people who are in low-lying areas of Kent, Renton, and Tukwila should move to higher ground immediately.
