Clark Lea Expresses Extreme Confidence in College Football Playoff Hopes Despite Negative Buzz
NASHVILLE—In the midst of Saturday’s noise, results and the general sense of pessimism that arose from them, Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea stepped up to the podium
Here's who Vanderbilt fans should root for during an open week to bolster the Commodores' College Football Playoff hopes.
As expected, the Vanderbilt Commodores are on the outside looking in in Tuesday’s edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.
After wins over Tennessee and Alabama, Oklahoma needs to avoid a letdown at home against Missouri to keep its Playoff spot. The Tigers are likely down their top two quarterbacks (Beau Pribula is doubtful), but running back Ahmad Hardy torched Mississippi State for 300 yards last week. (Missouri’s Playoff odds are at zero regardless of result.)
Texas Tech's dominance over BYU damaged the Big 12's shot at two bids. The ACC is caving in on itself. Vanderbilt stands to benefit.
Oklahoma grabbed back-to-back ranked road wins over Tennessee (33-27) and Alabama (23-21) for what might be the best two-game stretch from any team in the country. Despite losing two games in the past five contests, the Sooners have a terrific resume that includes four-ranked wins in five tries and a 4-0 road record.
Vanderbilt football was ranked No. 14 in the second iteration of the College Football Playoff rankings released Nov. 11.
