An Arctic blast brought snow, frost and dangerously cold winds to the northern Plains, the Midwest and the Great Lakes, creating “very difficult to impossible” travel conditions on one of the busiest days of the year,

CBS New York meteorologist John Elliott said "very intense snow" will hit communities along the Great Lakes, Plans and Midwest regions as upwards of 6 feet of snow is forecast.

Shockingly cold temperatures will make an unwelcome appearance across nearly the entire eastern half of the country this weekend and into next week.
