Control over drawing congressional district lines shifting temporarily back to the Virginia General Assembly is in a proposal from a Democratic state lawmaker.

Virginia voters are set to decide on a new House map that could help Democrats pick up as many as four seats in the midterm elections.

Voters will now get a say over whether the current maps can be redrawn ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
