More than 200 million people across the United States are bracing for the arrival of a major winter storm that is set to take hold over the weekend.

A major winter storm is set to spread heavy snow and damaging ice across a large portion of the United States over the coming days.

The center said there’s “high confidence in an extreme event, leading to long-lasting impacts both to travel and infrastructure” because of the bitter cold that will linger after the storm.
