US Navy receives 7,800-ton nuclear submarine named after famed WWII battleship
The submarine is the fifth Navy vessel to bear the name Idaho. The first was a wooden-hulled storeship commissioned in 1866. The most recent predecessor was the battleship USS Idaho (BB-42), commissioned in 1919, which earned seven battle stars during World War II.
The Navy needs to fix this given "the rise of 21st century adversaries capable of producing high-end threats in warfare," a new report says.
