DETROIT — Spencer Torkelson hit a two-run homer and six Detroit Tigers pitchers navigated a joint effort in a 7-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday night at Comerica Park. The Tigers (18-17) took two of three from the Rangers (16-18) and improved to 12-3 at home.

Keider Montero allowed one run – a solo home run to Jake Burger – over 6⅔ innings to beat the Texas Rangers in Saturday's game.

Hurter (4-0) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out two over 3.1 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Salvador Perez’s go-ahead three-run home run brought the rain. The storm clouds were looming behind the home-plate stands at Comerica Park, and the tarp practically followed Perez around the bases as he celebrated his 30th career homer against the Tigers.

The Tigers walked into Conway on Tuesday and took down a top-10 team, using a steady night at the plate and enough pitching to keep Coastal from ever getting comfortable. It wasn’t perfect, but it was controlled, and more importantly, it showed what Clemson can look like when things start to click on both sides.
