The latest forecasts spare Florida from any snow or sleet but "bitterly cold temperatures" are coming behind the front.
The coldest air since December of 2010 will arrive this weekend. Lows will dip down to the mid 50s Saturday morning and highs will only be in the low 60s. But the coldest day will be on Sunday as lows are forecast to drop to the 30s in Broward COunty and Miami-Dade County with 40s across the Florida Keys.
Temperatures in some locations around Florida dropped almost 30 degrees over the last 24 hours.
A strong northerly wind is bringing the cold across Florida, with temperatures this morning in the low 40s on the Treasure Coast and low 50s in the Palm Beaches
The front moves into Central Florida from the northwest to the southeast, bringing scattered showers (30–50%) and gusty winds. Winds turn breezy from the west and northwest in the afternoon, gusting up to 25 mph.
Forecasters across the board are warning about ice buildups that are “downright scary”, according to Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore.
