From December 11 onward, any traffic (messages) with undefined or mismatched Telemarketer chains will be rejected.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has implemented its traceability guidelines starting 1 December 2024. While the initiative aims to curb spam, phishing, and cyber fraud, mobile subscribers might experience temporary delays in receiving messages and one-time passwords (OTPs) during the transition period.

All telecom operators and messaging service providers will have to check the origin and authenticity of every message under these rules. All these steps are being taken under the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) system which was started to stop spam and increase message traceability.

TRAI's reassurance on OTP message delivery, Anthropic AI's feature mimicking user writing styles, Instagram's live location sharing, OnePlus 12's AI improvements, and the anticipated launch of Apple's M4 MacBook Air models early next year.

The new system requires certain technical tweaks from telemarketers that involves defining principal entity (PE)-Telemarketers (TMs) chain, based on which the telecom operators will be able to trace the messages.
