MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum celebrated Friday the victory of Fátima Bosch Fernández of Mexico as Miss Universe 2025, applauding her as an example for women.

Bosch took the crown in a scandal-hit competition where she emerged as a fan favorite after she was berated by a Thai pageant director, triggering a walk out by contestants.
Pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil, the co-owner of the Miss Universe organization, was caught on a November 4 livestream admonishing Bosch in front of fellow contestants, calling her “dumb” and telling her to be quiet and “keep polite.”
When the golden crown studded with diamonds and pearls is placed on the head of the new Miss Universe in Thailand on Friday, it will mark the end of an exceptionally chaotic edition.
