First-look pictures have been released for King & Conqueror, a new eight-part historical epic coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2025.

Waldau don their armor in these first-look images for their historical BBC drama King & Conqueror. The images show Norton as Harold, Earl of Wessex and Coster-Waldau as William, Duke of Normandy, along with shots of Emily Beecham as Edith Swanneck and Clémence Poésy as Matilda.

The BBC's previously-announced period drama King & Conqueror, starring James Norton ( Happy Valley ), has confirmed a 2025 release window along with some first-look images of the cast.

James Norton has revealed he was set on playing William the Conqueror in upcoming Middle Ages drama series "King and Conqueror" but was thwarted by HBO, who had an option on the actor for another series.

Sometimes casting can be a completely creative process and sometimes contracts can get in the way. With CBS Studios’ upcoming King and Conqueror about Harold of Wessex and William the Conqueror, it was a fair bit of the latter.
