Penn State is hiring former Iowa State assistant Jake Waters to be the quarterbacks coach in State College. BWI’s Nate Bauer first reported on Campbell’s plan to hire Waters on Sunday. Waters has held the same role in Ames under new Nittany Lions head coach Matt Campbell since 2024 and has been on the Cyclones’ staff since 2021.

Matt Campbell is inching closer to completing his first offensive coaching staff at Penn State. Former Iowa State quarterbacks coach Jake Waters is following Campbell in the same role. Though he’s not yet in the staff directory, he has updated his social media profile to reflect the move.

KMA Sports Hall of Famer and St. Albert alum Jake Waters has joined the coaching staff at Penn State.  Waters will serve as the quarterbacks coach, reuniting with head coach Matt Campbell, whom he served under at Iowa State.
