The governor appeared to walk back his calls last month for lawmakers to regulate the state’s burgeoning THC industry like it does alcohol.

After remaining largely tight-lipped during the regular session, Gov. Greg Abbott finally broke his silence and said he supports banning intoxicating hemp products on Tuesday.

Gov. Greg Abbott told Community Impact July 22 that he wanted to outlaw hemp products containing more than 3 milligrams of THC and increase regulations on the hemp industry.
