The FIA, the governing body of Formula 1, Formula E, and WEC, is undergoing a major internal political struggle. Ethics and audit committees would fall more closely under leadership under the new rules.

The push for amendments, which if met with approval at a vote of the FIA assembly on December 13, would hand Ben Sulayem more power, according to a report by the BBC. Such a move would see the FIA president, and president of the senate, Carmelo Sanz De Barros, oversee any ethical complaints, rather than the senate.

FIA pursues rule revisions following allegations against president
The FIA is looking to revise its policies in order to reduce the mechanisms for holding its leadership accountable for poor governance, BBC Sport reports. This means that FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulaymen would neutralise the abilities of informers to clearly expose questionable behaviour to the ethics and audit committees.
