England won the toss and opted to bowl in the second test against India at Edgbaston on Wednesday, with the tourists making three changes and resting pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as they manage his back for the series.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been left out of India’s squad for the second Test against England at Edgbaston. He is replaced by fellow fast bowler Akash Deep. There are two other changes from the squad named in the first Test, with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar coming in for Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur.

Even more so now that England have edged ahead after a thrilling chase at Headingley. Few bowlers can last five games in a row, and so compared to their batting counterparts who can knuckle down and cash in on finding some form – or rather find themselves in a doom loop of coming up against the same bowlers who have worked them out – the individuals with ball in hand will chop and change.
