NFL, Broncos and Nix

Throckmorton was waived in the final roster-cutdowns this past August, but quickly re-signed to the practice squad. When Powers went down following Week 5's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Broncos initially went with Matt Peart as his replacement.
The standout star on Sunday – and perhaps most surprising for the Broncos in 2025 – has been left tackle Garett Bolles. Bolles didn’t give up one pressure the whole game and had a pass blocking grade of 90.9 himself. That elite level of play allowed Nix to tear apart one of the best defenses in the NFL to the tune of 300 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Broncos DC Vance Joseph had some high praise for Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence ahead of their clash, putting him in Jordan Love territory.
This week, the 12-2 Denver Broncos will host the 10-4 Jacksonville Jaguars in their second consecutive home game against a playoff-caliber opponent. Denver is the only team in the league with an undefeated home record (7-0), and this marks the second consecutive season with a playoff berth.
If those two results go the Broncos' way and the New England Patriots (11-3) and Buffalo Bills (10-4) also both lose, Denver could also clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC, securing homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
The Broncos have already clinched a playoff berth, but they still have plenty to play for. Denver needs to avoid this nightmare scenario.
In September, the 5-foot-9, 214-pound back was signed from the Rams' practice squad onto the Jacksonville Jaguars' active roster. He was waived by the Jaguars on Dec. 6 and claimed by the Texans, who waived him again on Dec. 13 — two days before finding his way to the Mile High City.
This week, the NFL took notice of Denver's magical season, and made sure the whole league knew about it. The NFL's official Twitter/X page cover photo features a picture of quarterback Bo Nix celebrating the win, arms outstretched, and the caption, "merry clinchmas."
