Forget white suffragist pantsuits, the political uniform of the female Trump opposition during the president’s first term. On Tuesday night during President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress, about three dozen members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus wore bright hues of pink.

Several Democratic women in Congress wore pink for President Trump’s first address to Congress in a display of defiance. For some observers, the stylistic protest did not have the desired effect.

Colbert, the CBS late night host, tore into Trump’s speech during his Tuesday show and criticized the address for being “filled with useful lies, and applauded by useless idiots.” At one point, he took aim at Democrats during the speech for silently holding up placards that read “false” and “lies.”
