Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. has developed into one of the league's top defensive backs after turning in a first-team All-Pro campaign in 2024. For the second consecutive season, Stingley finished with five interceptions to lead the Texans in that category.
Asked what corners he's seen with as good hands as Derek Stingley Jr., Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans pointed to Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
Ward, 34, was arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in June and charged with assault family violence impeding breath/circulation, a third-degree felony, in the aftermath of one of the alleged assaults.
“We’re really excited to get to Detroit and go against the Lions,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. “As we talked about all week, it’ll be a great opportunity for us to go and compete against a really good football team, competitive team. Looking to see where we stack up versus this team. So, very excited to get to work.”
Ryans gave out plenty of respect to Lions players after what was a very back-and-forth practice on both sides of the ball. The Texans had to make adjustments on defense, in particular, trying to get used to how much speed the Lions come with and their knack for explosive plays.
