‘Alarming increase’ in child deaths in Cuyahoga County
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -Cuyahoga County officials will hold a news conference Tuesday morning to address what they are calling an “alarming increase” in child deaths over the past year. Officials will be joined by medical experts to discuss the causes of these fatalities and talk about how they can be prevented.
Child deaths rise in Cuyahoga County: Report
According to the report, 190 children under the age of 18 died in Cuyahoga County in 2023. The 10-year average is 174. The attribute the increase specifically to infant mortality and child homicides, Shawna Rohrman said, She’s the Cuyahoga County Office of Early Childhood and Invest in Children Director.
